Hey, %%RECIPIENT%%!Happy New Year Hey there! Welcome to the first Manchester Beacon newsletter of 2012. For January, excited to see the network bringing physics, community planning, social responsibility and Chinese New Year celebrations over beer, wine and breakfast. Not all at the same time of course! Thursday night, head to Manchester's Northern Quarter to check out Prof Jeff Forshaw's new book, 'The Quantum Universe,' co-authored with Prof Brian Cox. In March, the theme is History with the Manchester Histories Festival. The Festival have just launched their Community History Awards, a new prize recognising and celebrating partnerships between community organisations/schools and either an archive/gallery/library/museum. Don't hesistate: http://bit.ly/xMYRBM <<Applications and Guidelines can be downloaded here. The winning Awards will be chosen by a Panel of six Judges, (including http://bit.ly/wFVLgk <<Erinma from the Manchester Beacon team) chaired by BBC North west Tonight's Ranvir Singh, and presented at a ceremony in Manchester Town Hall on Friday 2 March 2012. Nice to see a History theme to Bright Club Manchester in March too! Also, the Manchester Museum of Transport are interested in working with marketing students/academics/IT people about enhancing their public engagement with communities through communications and touch screen displays. Get in touch with The Histories Festival via their http://bit.ly/zm92Lm <<website. Here's hoping 2012 brings everyone every success for our events and activities and much much more. Looking forward to the rest of the year. All best, Manchester Beacon Network UPCOMING EVENTSAn eclectic mix of forthcoming events.
