The BBC wants everyone across Britain to make films about their lives on one day in 2011: Saturday November 12th. The idea is to capture a unique portrait of modern day Britain.
We’re not looking for the next hi-tech blockbuster: we want intimate, personal films which provide a real insight into your life and the life of the UK. From scientists to artists and everyone in between we're keen for anyone to take part in cities and countryside.
More information on how to take part and how to upload films to YouTube will be provided on a website from the end of October, but you can also use the hashtag britaininday to spread the word.
A time capsule of Britain and learning resource will be produced as well as a full-length documentary which will be shown on BBC Two next year. The project is being produced in conjunction with Ridley Scott's production company, Scott Free London, which produced the user generated feature film, Life in A Day.
The project is part of the Cultural Olympiad.
